Apologies for the mess you’ll find inside as I walk you to your throne,
walk these hallways of paragraphs, through this palace I’ve built may you find your own.
Excuse that shattered glass you see,
I smashed the mirror of truth.
As you walk to your coronation honey
I need you to understand that chaos is not beautiful,
I have weathered many a storm but I’m a hurricane
So side step that debris and locate your crown in me.
Some days, I regret, I missed while being distracted by someone who wasn’t you.
Other times I wish I could locate my emotional off switch,
Because like flowers growing in the gutter,
You’re my No’s YES!
I see the stars in your darkness twinkle every time I talk to you.
That’s why I stay,
Clinging to your heart’s hammer as I break again and again.
Praying that in the mosaic my heart makes,
You can see your royal crown glimmer and your throne beckon.
As I walk you to your throne please do not cry
that you’re falling for a heart that you’ll never see.
I will speak of you, past, present and future
as my heart swims behind a mask that will never fit,
living a constant nightmare and bleeding into morning
Do not worry about how many tomorrows we have,
I will always want you to be better,
So accept your crown with grace.
This is the basis of my love;
Even if it means being better for her,
and missing out on the crown and glory.
Claim your kingdom and rule like it’s agony not to,
As I lead you to your throne realize that this is bigger than us.
The very fabric of your being screams royalty.
Even with heart dressed as a pauper the regal aura shines through.
Your inheritance is something indefinable dear Prince,
Something quite apart from being beautiful,
yet all the while the healing you seek
can be found in the crown you deign to wear.
As we stumble to your throne,
Remember gravity is not responsible for people falling in love,
And that earthquakes are a symbol of the earth’s broken hearts.
If your crown must hide, let it be in me.
Remember smoke clears and mirrors break,
But you will always be more than an interlude.
Your Crown will always hold the coveted spot.
Grab it when you’re ready to stop putting a new address on the same old loneliness.
Every glimmer of each jewel, each engraving is simply the crown,
Giving you permission to be yourself.
