In the back room of a boutique a fan whirls but try as it might it can’t cut through the heat.
The room is packed, with at least 12 people and I’m stuck in between the thighs of two men, with my head being pulled this way and that. Beads of sweat keep forming on my forehead. The fan really isn’t helping.
Right now I have only the two paying me attention. I’m not sure maybe they might call another man to help but right now it seems unlikely as there a lot of women in here requiring attention.
I know to some it may sound like I’m having a sordid affair but trust me all I’m trying to do is look good.
I’m getting my hair braided. The masai men specialize in braiding micro twist, so sitting in this stuffy back room is a small price to pay for a good hair do.
Many women will tell you that this micro twisting hurts, I won’t lie to you. . . . It does! Especially when they’re done and are twisting it back so that you don’t look like a porcupine. But it’s worth it. You look good and it lasts long. And it doesn’t come with the super itch like a weave does.
Another advantage of micro twisting my hair is I can pretty much do any hairdo I want (after the first two weeks because the headache can be killer).
So why do women put up with pain? Why, for the sake of beauty of course! Every woman wants to feel beautiful. No matter that beauty is only skin deep, or that it lies in the eyes of the beholder; we all care about looking good. (Of course some more than others, yes I’m referring to the Kimyes of this world lol).
Whether you put yourself through waxing, or threading your eyebrows, or the agony of walking in 6inch heels everyday you will agree that beauty comes with a little pain.
Now before you disagree listen to my logic, if it doesn’t hurt you physically it will sure hurt your pocket! Lol.
